A set of four freedan studios pieces

Tanglehead

“It’s easy to get lost in one’s thoughts.”

Tanglehead is one of my more experimental pieces. I began with a palette of random colors, put a grayscale filter over them, then simply painted based on values. The end result was a very unorthodox color palette. I opted to keep the palette as the background, as the chaotic mass of colors fit with the theme of the painting.

The three halos around the main subject of the painting consist of seeds, leaves, and skulls, representing the three stages of life.

There’s also an animated version of Tanglehead. It was the first animated art piece I ever made. It’s not currently on this website, although I might put it up later!
